revealit TV’s Journey

Garry Smith CEO and Founder

In 2015 after successfully exiting my last start-up, I moved from the USA back to Australia. I was remodelling my home and I saw the most beautiful pendant lights on the show House of Cards right there in Frank and Claire Underwoods' kitchen. They were the right colour, size and style, but the problem was that while I could see them, I could not shop for them, I could not perform any research on them to see if they would fit my type of light socket, and I could not share them with my wife to get her blessing.

I had similar frustrations with my favorite reality show Survivor, where I looked low and high on the internet to find the presenter Jeff Probst's shirts.

I remember thinking at the time that TV and video advertising is truly broken. Why am I bombarded with 1940's ads for things I’m not interested in, and why can’t I shop what I see? Also, why are brands paying for ads no one wants to see when I would be glad to not only let them know I want those lights but buy them instantly - right at the moment the content inspired me.

It was clear to me the content is the ad.

In 2016 I convinced my co-founder Zach Oakes to attend the National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas to research how to create a streaming platform where we can shop and interact with what we see in any frame. After that trip, I moved back to the USA and started revealit TV by filing a 129-page patent.

Since 2018 we have dedicated ourselves everyday to creating a streaming platform that is the future of TV and puts users at the centre of the viewing experience. Why?

We believe it's good for creators, advertisers and viewers.

P.S. Jeff’s shirts are custom-made for every season and are Auctioned off for charity regularly fetching over $5000 per shirt.

P.P.S. I still don’t know what the Underwood’s pendant lights are.
